This archival poster commemorates the 1964 to 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, printing car 13 in red and blue duotone above the line COBRA POWERED BY FORD.

About This Image

A poster commemorating the 1964 to 1965 Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe, printing car 13 in red and blue duotone above the line "COBRA POWERED BY FORD".

What Is in This Poster?

A flat two-colour design in scarlet and deep blue on aged cream. The dates 1964 to 1965 are stacked in the upper right, with SHELBY COBRA DAYTONA COUPE set in condensed capitals below. The middle of the sheet carries a halftone image of the coupe in profile at speed, race number 13 on the door, printed so the background dissolves into long horizontal streaks of blue and red. Carroll Shelby's signature is reproduced in white beneath it, with the names Schlesser, Keck and Johnson printed small to the right. A blue band across the foot carries COBRA in large cream capitals and POWERED BY FORD in red beneath it.

What Was the Daytona Coupe?

The car that made an American manufacturer a world champion. Six were built between 1964 and 1965 to Peter Brock's aerodynamic design, and the model took the FIA World Sportscar Championship GT class, the first ever won by an American maker (Car Collector International, Alan Mann Racing). Chassis CSX2300 sold at Monterey for $42.905 million, a record for an American car (HotCars).

Why Does a Duotone Work for This Subject?

Because it is the printing method of the period it commemorates. Reducing a racing photograph to two inks throws away the detail and keeps the shape, the number and the motion streaks, which is all the poster needs. The result looks like something pinned up in a workshop in 1965 rather than a modern reproduction, and it hangs with type as the subject rather than paint finish.

Who Is This Print For?

This Daytona Coupe poster print suits Cobra and Shelby collectors, sports car racing historians, workshop and garage interiors, and anyone who prefers graphic design to photography. The two-colour palette is unusually easy to hang, since it carries a room without competing with it. Choose framed print, stretched canvas, ChromaLuxe metal or Giclée.

Framed Print

Our framed prints feature a black, hand-stained solid wood frame with a white mat, museum-quality paper, archival inks, Acrylite glazing, and hanging hardware. The frame features a slim 0.8-inch face and projects 1.3 inches from the wall, creating a clean, contemporary shadow-box effect. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Stretched Canvas

Our stretched canvas prints are produced on acid-free, pH-neutral, and fade-resistant canvas. Each canvas is hand-glued to solid wood stretcher bars and stretched over 1.25-inch-thick pine bars. Mounting brackets are included. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Giclée Art Print

Our Giclée prints are produced using premium 200gsm semi-gloss paper and high-quality archival inks. Each print includes a white border around the perimeter.

For the 40 x 60 size, we use 250gsm museum-quality archival paper with an off-white, uncoated finish.

The listed size refers to the overall paper dimensions. The image is printed proportionally within the selected paper size. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

ChromaLuxe

ChromaLuxe prints use a state-of-the-art coating process that infuses the image directly onto sheets of alloy metal. The result is photography with an exceptional combination of vibrancy, clarity, and durability.

Each print arrives ready to hang. An alloy subframe on the back allows the artwork to float away from the wall for a sleek, modern appearance. This is the finest-quality print we offer. Made in the USA.
