What Was the Heritage Edition?

A limited package for the 2022 model year marking 55 years since the original 1967 GT500. It was finished exclusively in Brittany Blue with either Wimbledon White or Absolute Black stripes, referencing the colour combination of the car designed under Charles McHose. Mechanically it was a standard GT500: a supercharged 5.2-litre Predator V8 of 760 horsepower through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Why Does 1967 Matter?

1967 was the first year of the GT500, the big-block Shelby that turned the Mustang from a compact sporting car into a genuine muscle car. That lineage is why Ford ended the S550 generation of GT500 with a heritage package rather than a power increase: there was nothing left to prove on output, and everything to gain from the association.
