About This Image
About This Image
The Ford Mustang GTD on track: a road-legal Mustang engineered backwards from a GT3 race car, and the most extreme Mustang Ford has ever sold.
What Is the Mustang GTD?
It is not a hotter Dark Horse. The GTD carries a supercharged 5.2-litre Predator V8 with dry-sump lubrication making 815 horsepower and 664 pound-feet, and it sends that through a carbon-fibre driveshaft to an eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle mounted at the rear for weight distribution. Suspension is semi-active with pushrods and hydraulically adjustable ride height. It is built in partnership with Multimatic, the same company that builds Ford's GT3 racers, and it lists from roughly 320,000 dollars.
What Is in This Photograph?
A three-quarter front view on circuit tarmac and painted kerbing, in silver-grey. The frame shows what makes the car unmistakable: the enormous rear wing, the widened track and blistered arches, the hood and body vents cut for airflow rather than style, and the exposed aerodynamic underfloor work at the front. Nothing about the shape is shared with a standard Mustang beyond the roofline.
Why Does This Car Exist?
Ford announced the GTD to prove a front-engined Mustang could run with mid-engined European supercars on a circuit, with a stated target of a sub-seven-minute Nürburgring lap. It sits at the head of a family that includes the Mustang GT3 and GT4 race cars and the Dark Horse R, all derived from the same generation of car.
Who Is This Print For?
This Mustang GTD print suits Mustang collectors, GT3 and endurance racing followers, supercar enthusiasts, dealership showrooms and study interiors. The GTD is the most extreme road Mustang Ford has built, and current imagery of it is still comparatively scarce. Choose framed print, stretched canvas, ChromaLuxe metal or Giclée for an office, study or showroom.
