What Is in This Photograph?

What Is the Bronco DR?

DR stands for Desert Racer. Ford Performance took a production four-door Bronco chassis and rebuilt it for off-road competition, fitting a 5.0-litre Coyote V8 producing 418 horsepower driving all four wheels, long-travel suspension, a full cage and racing safety equipment. Just fifty were built for the 2023 model year, at around 295,000 dollars each, with a Baja package available on top.

Can You Drive One on the Road?

No. The DR is sold as a race vehicle, not a registerable car, which puts it in the same category as a customer race car rather than a limited-edition road model. Buyers use them in desert racing and private off-road events. That combination, a fifty-unit run of a competition vehicle carrying a mass-market nameplate, is why photographs of it are comparatively rare.
