This official archive photograph documents the 1977 Ford Mustang II Cobra II, the second year of the package, by which point Ford had brought production of the graphics in-house and expanded the colour range. 1977 also introduced the T-top roof option on the hatchback body, now among the most sought-after Mustang II specifications. Available as a framed print, stretched canvas, ChromaLuxe metal print, or Giclée art print.

About This Image

This official archive image documents the 1977 Ford Mustang II Cobra II. In its second year the package continued with full-length racing stripes, air dam, rear spoiler, bonnet scoop, window louvres and Cobra badging, with Ford taking the work in-house and broadening the colour choices beyond the three 1976 combinations.

What Changed for 1977?

The Cobra II carried over largely unaltered in content but not in execution. Ford moved production of the package from Motortown Corporation into its own operation, and the range of available colour and stripe combinations widened considerably.

1977 also brought the T-top roof option to the Mustang II hatchback, which appeared on a number of Cobra IIs and is now one of the more sought-after specifications from the generation.

What Engines Were Available?

The 1977 Mustang II engine range:

  • 2.3-litre inline four as standard
  • 2.8-litre V6 as the mid-range option
  • 302 cubic inch V8 with a two-barrel carburettor
  • Four-speed manual or three-speed automatic transmission
  • T-top roof newly available on the hatchback body

Why Collect a Mustang II Today?

The Mustang II spent decades as the generation enthusiasts dismissed, and huge numbers were scrapped. That is precisely why survivors now attract interest: original, unmodified cars are genuinely difficult to find.

Historically the car also deserves more credit than it receives. Launched into the 1973 oil crisis, it sold strongly, was named Motor Trend Car of the Year for 1974, and kept the Mustang name alive through a period that killed most of its rivals outright.

Who Is This Print For?

This 1977 Cobra II print suits Mustang II owners, Cobra II collectors, 1970s car enthusiasts, restoration shops, offices and garages. As vintage Ford wall art it fills a gap most Mustang collections leave open. Choose framed, canvas, metal or Giclée formats for a home office, study, museum display or Ford wall decor programme.

Framed Print

Our framed prints feature a black, hand-stained solid wood frame with a white mat, museum-quality paper, archival inks, Acrylite glazing, and hanging hardware. The frame features a slim 0.8-inch face and projects 1.3 inches from the wall, creating a clean, contemporary shadow-box effect. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Stretched Canvas

Our stretched canvas prints are produced on acid-free, pH-neutral, and fade-resistant canvas. Each canvas is hand-glued to solid wood stretcher bars and stretched over 1.25-inch-thick pine bars. Mounting brackets are included. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Giclée Art Print

Our Giclée prints are produced using premium 200gsm semi-gloss paper and high-quality archival inks. Each print includes a white border around the perimeter.

For the 40 x 60 size, we use 250gsm museum-quality archival paper with an off-white, uncoated finish.

The listed size refers to the overall paper dimensions. The image is printed proportionally within the selected paper size. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

ChromaLuxe

ChromaLuxe prints use a state-of-the-art coating process that infuses the image directly onto sheets of alloy metal. The result is photography with an exceptional combination of vibrancy, clarity, and durability.

Each print arrives ready to hang. An alloy subframe on the back allows the artwork to float away from the wall for a sleek, modern appearance. This is the finest-quality print we offer. Made in the USA.
