This archival photograph shows Tom Gloy Racing's number 12 Ford Mustang square from behind at the 1996 Trans-Am round on the streets of St Petersburg, Florida.

About This Image

Tom Gloy Racing's number 12 Mustang on a street circuit at the 1996 Trans-Am round in St Petersburg, photographed square from behind against the concrete wall.

What Is in This Photograph?

A rear view from track level, close enough that the car's tail fills most of the frame. The wide rear bodywork, the full-width rear wing and the Mustang lettering across the tail panel are all clearly readable, and the number roundel sits centrally. The blue and red livery is at its most graphic from this angle. Behind the car is the plain concrete barrier of a temporary street course, which strips the background of any distraction and leaves the car's silhouette doing the work.

What Was Trans-Am in 1996?

A professional series for heavily modified silhouette coupes running on a mix of street circuits and road courses. The 1996 season opened on the streets of St Petersburg, Florida, and Ford Mustangs were competitive throughout, with Dorsey Schroeder taking multiple wins that year in Tom Gloy Racing's number 12 car (1996 Trans-Am Series, Trans Am Series).

What Makes a Trans-Am Car Different?

Almost nothing under the skin is from the road car. The bodies are composite shells over purpose-built tube-frame chassis, the engines are racing V8s, and the proportions are stretched and widened until only the identity of the shape survives. That is why a rear view like this one reads as a Mustang instantly while sharing no panel with the production car.

Who Is This Print For?

This Trans-Am print suits Mustang owners, American road racing followers, 1990s motorsport enthusiasts, race shops and garage interiors. Square-on rear views are uncommon and they work almost as graphic design, which suits a modern interior better than a panned action shot. Choose framed print, stretched canvas, ChromaLuxe metal or Giclée.

Framed Print

Our framed prints feature a black, hand-stained solid wood frame with a white mat, museum-quality paper, archival inks, Acrylite glazing, and hanging hardware. The frame features a slim 0.8-inch face and projects 1.3 inches from the wall, creating a clean, contemporary shadow-box effect. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Stretched Canvas

Our stretched canvas prints are produced on acid-free, pH-neutral, and fade-resistant canvas. Each canvas is hand-glued to solid wood stretcher bars and stretched over 1.25-inch-thick pine bars. Mounting brackets are included. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Giclée Art Print

Our Giclée prints are produced using premium 200gsm semi-gloss paper and high-quality archival inks. Each print includes a white border around the perimeter.

For the 40 x 60 size, we use 250gsm museum-quality archival paper with an off-white, uncoated finish.

The listed size refers to the overall paper dimensions. The image is printed proportionally within the selected paper size. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

ChromaLuxe

ChromaLuxe prints use a state-of-the-art coating process that infuses the image directly onto sheets of alloy metal. The result is photography with an exceptional combination of vibrancy, clarity, and durability.

Each print arrives ready to hang. An alloy subframe on the back allows the artwork to float away from the wall for a sleek, modern appearance. This is the finest-quality print we offer. Made in the USA.
