About This Image
About This Image
This official archive photograph captures the number 16 Bud Moore Engineering Ford Mustang Boss 302 being prepared before the 1970 Trans-Am race at Bridgehampton, New York, held on 21 June 1970. Crew members work over the windscreen and front bodywork while spectators watch from the bank behind. The number 16 car was George Follmer's, and he finished second at Bridgehampton that day.
What Happened at Bridgehampton in 1970?
Bridgehampton, run on 21 June 1970, was one of the season's defining races. At the end of a long wet day Mark Donohue's Sunoco Javelin won by more than two laps from George Follmer, with Parnelli Jones third and Jim Hall four laps behind.
It was the race that confirmed the Javelin as a genuine winner, but Ford still took the 1970 manufacturers' championship over the full season.
What Made the Bud Moore Boss 302 Special?
Details of the 1970 Bud Moore Trans-Am cars:
- Bud Moore Engineering was Ford's only factory Trans-Am team in 1970
- Three cars were prepared, one a re-skinned 1969 Kar Kraft chassis
- Painted in the team's distinctive school-bus yellow-orange
- Number 15 for Parnelli Jones, number 16 for George Follmer
- Ran on Firestone tyres with Autolite and Union 76 support

Giclée Art Print
Giclée Art Print
Our Giclée prints are produced using premium 200gsm semi-gloss paper and high-quality archival inks. Each print includes a white border around the perimeter.
For the 40 x 60 size, we use 250gsm museum-quality archival paper with an off-white, uncoated finish.
The listed size refers to the overall paper dimensions. The image is printed proportionally within the selected paper size. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.
ChromaLuxe
ChromaLuxe
ChromaLuxe prints use a state-of-the-art coating process that infuses the image directly onto sheets of alloy metal. The result is photography with an exceptional combination of vibrancy, clarity, and durability.
Each print arrives ready to hang. An alloy subframe on the back allows the artwork to float away from the wall for a sleek, modern appearance. This is the finest-quality print we offer. Made in the USA.
