Who Was Dan Gurney?

Dan Gurney was among the most versatile drivers of his generation, winning in Formula One, IndyCar, NASCAR and sports cars. He was a central figure in Ford's racing programme through the 1960s.

In 1967 Gurney and A.J. Foyt won Le Mans outright for Ford in the Mk IV, and it was Gurney who first sprayed champagne from a winner's podium — a tradition that started with that Ford victory and never stopped.
