This official archive photograph shows the number 1 Ford Mk IV standing on the Sebring airfield with two drivers in white overalls resting against its roof, the MK·IV badge visible on the nose. The Mk IV won first time out at the 1967 Sebring 12 Hours in the hands of Mario Andretti and Bruce McLaren. Available as a framed print, stretched canvas, ChromaLuxe metal print, or Giclée art print.

About This Image

This official archive photograph captures the number 1 Ford Mk IV at Sebring in 1967, photographed head-on across the airfield concrete with two drivers in white overalls leaning against the roof. The Mk IV won on its racing debut at the 1967 Sebring 12 Hours, driven by Mario Andretti and Bruce McLaren, before going on to win Le Mans outright three months later.

What Does This Photograph Show?

The car is shown square-on and low, its wide nose filling the frame, with the roundel number 1 between the headlights and a MK·IV script on the front bodywork. The twin centre stripes run unbroken over the nose and roof, and the drivers are posed either side of the windscreen in light period driving suits.

The background is unmistakably Sebring — flat concrete, low fencing and distant parked cars on a former airfield rather than a purpose-built circuit.

Why Does the 1967 Sebring 12 Hours Matter?

Sebring was the Mk IV's first race. Ford used the Florida twelve-hour as a full-distance shakedown before Le Mans, and the car won outright with Mario Andretti and Bruce McLaren sharing the driving.

The result validated the honeycomb-chassis design that would take Gurney and Foyt to victory at Le Mans in June 1967, making this car type one of the very few to win both races in a single season.

What Made the Mk IV Different?

Distinguishing features of the Ford Mk IV:

  • Bonded aluminium honeycomb monocoque developed from the J-car programme
  • Low-drag long-tail bodywork with a distinctive rounded nose
  • 427 cubic inch Ford V8, approximately 500 horsepower
  • Assembled by Kar Kraft in Michigan
  • Won both of the races it was entered in during 1967 — Sebring and Le Mans

Framed Print

Our framed prints feature a black, hand-stained solid wood frame with a white mat, museum-quality paper, archival inks, Acrylite glazing, and hanging hardware. The frame features a slim 0.8-inch face and projects 1.3 inches from the wall, creating a clean, contemporary shadow-box effect. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Stretched Canvas

Our stretched canvas prints are produced on acid-free, pH-neutral, and fade-resistant canvas. Each canvas is hand-glued to solid wood stretcher bars and stretched over 1.25-inch-thick pine bars. Mounting brackets are included. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Giclée Art Print

Our Giclée prints are produced using premium 200gsm semi-gloss paper and high-quality archival inks. Each print includes a white border around the perimeter.

For the 40 x 60 size, we use 250gsm museum-quality archival paper with an off-white, uncoated finish.

The listed size refers to the overall paper dimensions. The image is printed proportionally within the selected paper size. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

ChromaLuxe

ChromaLuxe prints use a state-of-the-art coating process that infuses the image directly onto sheets of alloy metal. The result is photography with an exceptional combination of vibrancy, clarity, and durability.

Each print arrives ready to hang. An alloy subframe on the back allows the artwork to float away from the wall for a sleek, modern appearance. This is the finest-quality print we offer. Made in the USA.
