What Is in This Photograph?

A studio set-up with no floor, no background and no context: the cars float on black with a soft pool of light behind them. Both carry the track wing and the carbon splitter, and the lighting is arranged to run along the shoulder line and down the flank so the shape is described entirely by highlight. What Was the 2020 GT500?

The most powerful street-legal Ford ever built at the time. Its supercharged 5.2-litre Predator V8 produced 760 horsepower and 625 pound-feet through a seven-speed Tremec dual-clutch transmission, with no manual offered. Ford quoted sub-11-second quarter miles. Carbon Fibre Track Package and Handling Package options changed the wings, splitters and wheels substantially.

How Long Was It Built?

The S550 GT500 ran for three model years only, from 2020 to 2022, having been unveiled in January 2019. That short run, and the fact that it closed out the generation, is why 2020 through 2022 cars are treated as a distinct chapter rather than as part of a longer GT500 line.
