About This Image

A poster titled "Classic Woody" showing a dark green Ford woody station wagon on a palm-lined coastal street, captioned "Living the dream, Cruisin' the Coast".

What Is in This Poster?

An illustrated scene framed top and bottom by bamboo-style borders. The title sits in a dark panel in cream script at the top. Below it the wagon is drawn in three-quarter front view, dark green with varnished timber framing and lighter inset panels on the rear body, chrome bumper, whitewall tyres and a bullet-centre grille. Palms lean over the street, a cream Spanish-revival hotel with striped awnings and iron balconies runs down the left, and figures in period clothing stand on the pavement with a second car behind. The bottom band reads "Living the dream" in italic beside "CRUISIN' THE COAST" in capitals.

What Car Is Shown?

A postwar Ford woody station wagon of the shoebox era. Ford's 1949 model was the company's first clean-sheet design after the Second World War and the first postwar restyle from a major American maker, offered with a 239 cubic inch V8 rated at 100 horsepower (Hagerty, 1949 Ford). Genuine structural timber survived only to the start of the 1950s, after which wood-grain trim replaced it (Curbside Classic).

Why Does the Woody Sell a Feeling Rather Than a Car?

Because by the time posters like this were made the woody had stopped being transport and become shorthand for coastal leisure. The hotel, the palms and the strolling couples do the work; the wagon is the object that lets the viewer into the scene. That is a different job from a factory advertisement, and it is why the type talks about the dream rather than the payload.

Who Is This Print For?

This woody poster print suits woody wagon and surf culture enthusiasts, mid-century Americana collectors, beach houses, bars and coastal interiors, and anyone who wants warm colour rather than a documentary photograph. The vertical format suits a narrow wall or a hallway. Choose framed print, stretched canvas, ChromaLuxe metal or Giclée.

Framed Print

Our framed prints feature a black, hand-stained solid wood frame with a white mat, museum-quality paper, archival inks, Acrylite glazing, and hanging hardware. The frame features a slim 0.8-inch face and projects 1.3 inches from the wall, creating a clean, contemporary shadow-box effect. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Stretched Canvas

Our stretched canvas prints are produced on acid-free, pH-neutral, and fade-resistant canvas. Each canvas is hand-glued to solid wood stretcher bars and stretched over 1.25-inch-thick pine bars. Mounting brackets are included. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Giclée Art Print

Our Giclée prints are produced using premium 200gsm semi-gloss paper and high-quality archival inks. Each print includes a white border around the perimeter.

For the 40 x 60 size, we use 250gsm museum-quality archival paper with an off-white, uncoated finish.

The listed size refers to the overall paper dimensions. The image is printed proportionally within the selected paper size. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

ChromaLuxe

ChromaLuxe prints use a state-of-the-art coating process that infuses the image directly onto sheets of alloy metal. The result is photography with an exceptional combination of vibrancy, clarity, and durability.

Each print arrives ready to hang. An alloy subframe on the back allows the artwork to float away from the wall for a sleek, modern appearance. This is the finest-quality print we offer. Made in the USA.
