About This Image
About This Image
A Ford Mustang GTD in profile on a racing circuit, empty grandstands behind it, photographed low and close on cold tarmac.
What Is in This Photograph?
A side view from slightly below and forward, tight enough that the car fills the frame from edge to edge. The paint is a cool blue-grey that goes almost silver over the rear haunch. The rear fenders are visibly blistered out over the wheels, the door mirror stands on a slim stalk, and the swan-neck wing rises above the tail on the left of the frame. Behind, tiered grandstands run the width of the picture, completely empty, with catch fencing and a grass bank beyond. The track surface is dusty and marked with rubber.
What Is the Mustang GTD?
Ford's road car derived from its GT3 racing effort. The supercharged 5.2-litre Predator V8 produces 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft through a carbon-fibre driveshaft to a rear transaxle, with 202 mph claimed and a Nürburgring lap of under seven minutes (Autoblog, Motor Authority). Development continued at the circuit itself, where Ford engineers used 3D printing to make aerodynamic changes trackside during the record attempt (3DPrinting.com).
Why an Empty Grandstand?
Because it says test day rather than race day. There is no crowd, no grid and no support paddock: just a car built for lap times standing on a circuit with nobody watching, which is where almost all of the work on a car like this actually happens. The emptiness also keeps the eye on the machine, since there is nothing in the background competing for attention.
Who Is This Print For?
This Mustang GTD print suits track day drivers, GTD owners and reservation holders, circuit racing enthusiasts, motorsport workshops and garage interiors. The horizontal grandstand lines behind the car give it a strong graphic structure at large sizes. Choose framed print, stretched canvas, ChromaLuxe metal or Giclée.
