About This Image

A red 2002 Ford Thunderbird with its black soft top raised, tracking along a canyon road with the golden rock behind it blurred into streaks.

What Is in This Photograph?

A side-on panning shot in warm low light, the car sharp and everything around it smeared by the pan. The Thunderbird is in bright red with a black folding soft top up, a chrome windscreen surround and a chrome bar dividing the hood from the body line. The oval grille is filled with a fine horizontal chrome mesh and carries a small Thunderbird emblem at its centre, with round parking lamps set into the front wings and a shallow power bulge down the middle of the bonnet. A short row of chrome slashes sits behind the front wheel arch, a direct quotation of the 1955 car. The wheels are polished five-spoke alloys with gold-toned centres. Below the car a white edge line and a timber guard rail flick past; above and behind, a dry hillside of ochre rock and brush dissolves into colour.

What Was the Retro Thunderbird?

A two-seat convertible built on Lincoln running gear. It used the Lincoln LS's all-aluminium 3.9-litre DOHC 32-valve V8, rated at 252 horsepower at 6,100 rpm and 267 lb-ft at 4,300 rpm, driving through a five-speed automatic (MotorWeek, Edmunds). The car was named Motor Trend Car of the Year for 2002, the fourth time a Thunderbird had taken the award (MotorTrend, UPI). Production ran to 2005 (autoevolution).

Why Pan Rather Than Park It?

Because a retro design is vulnerable when it stands still, where it can look like a copy. Panned at speed, the shape has to work as a silhouette, and the Thunderbird's long bonnet, short deck and high chrome-edged screen do work: the eye reads proportion rather than quotation. Keeping the top up also matters, because it gives the car the low roofline and small side glass of a period roadster.

Who Is This Print For?

This Thunderbird print suits owners of the 2002 to 2005 cars, collectors of Ford's retro era, and anyone who likes a warm palette of red bodywork against golden rock. The horizontal composition and the motion blur make it an easy fit above a sideboard, desk or bench. Choose framed print, stretched canvas, ChromaLuxe metal or Gicl\u00e9e.

Framed Print

Our framed prints feature a black, hand-stained solid wood frame with a white mat, museum-quality paper, archival inks, Acrylite glazing, and hanging hardware. The frame features a slim 0.8-inch face and projects 1.3 inches from the wall, creating a clean, contemporary shadow-box effect. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Stretched Canvas

Our stretched canvas prints are produced on acid-free, pH-neutral, and fade-resistant canvas. Each canvas is hand-glued to solid wood stretcher bars and stretched over 1.25-inch-thick pine bars. Mounting brackets are included. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

Giclée Art Print

Our Giclée prints are produced using premium 200gsm semi-gloss paper and high-quality archival inks. Each print includes a white border around the perimeter.

For the 40 x 60 size, we use 250gsm museum-quality archival paper with an off-white, uncoated finish.

The listed size refers to the overall paper dimensions. The image is printed proportionally within the selected paper size. Made in the USA or Europe, depending on your location.

ChromaLuxe

ChromaLuxe prints use a state-of-the-art coating process that infuses the image directly onto sheets of alloy metal. The result is photography with an exceptional combination of vibrancy, clarity, and durability.

Each print arrives ready to hang. An alloy subframe on the back allows the artwork to float away from the wall for a sleek, modern appearance. This is the finest-quality print we offer. Made in the USA.
