About This Image
About This Image
A 1963 Ford Super Duty heavy-duty chassis cab with a tandem rear axle and a full grille guard, photographed on the apron of a works yard.
What Is in This Photograph?
A high front three-quarter view in black and white. The truck is a bare chassis cab: behind the cab there is only frame rail, cross-members and the fifth-wheel area, with no body fitted. The cab is dark, with a Super Duty badge on the bonnet side, FORD lettered across the grille surround and a heavy tubular guard protecting the grille and dual round headlamps. The windscreen is in place but the door openings are empty, so the steering wheel, bench seat and pedals are visible from outside. It stands on lug-tread tyres, single at the front and dual on a tandem rear axle, with chrome bumper-height steps behind the cab. Beyond a chain-link fence are stacks of steel and pallets in front of a long factory building.
What Was Super Duty in 1963?
Ford's heavy end of the truck range, not the pickup it later named. The 1963 heavy-duty line ran up through the F-850 to F-1100 series, with diesel variants from F-950-D upward, and the F-950 used a deep-channel frame with heavy front and rear axles and heavy-duty springs to reach a high gross vehicle weight rating (1963 Ford Trucks brochure, Wheelz). Tandem-axle heavy trucks of the period were also catalogued as T-series models (Ford truck parts catalogue).
Why Photograph a Truck With No Body?
Because that is what Ford sold. A heavy chassis cab left the plant for a body builder to finish as a dump truck, tanker or tractor unit, so the photograph that matters to a fleet buyer shows frame length, axle spacing and cab specification rather than a finished vehicle. Shooting it in the yard against the steel stacks makes the same point without a word of copy.
Who Is This Print For?
This heavy Ford truck print suits commercial vehicle collectors and historians, haulage and construction businesses, workshop and depot walls, and anyone drawn to bare engineering rather than styling. The industrial background and the high viewpoint make it read as a document of work. Choose framed print, stretched canvas, ChromaLuxe metal or Giclée.
