1969 Ford Mustang: Specifications, Equipment & Factory Sources

Ford Knowledge Base / Mustang / 1969

Explore the 1969 Ford Mustang through original Ford literature, engineering specifications and archive photographs.

Read the edition as well as the model year. This reference covers the regular U.S. range and Mach 1/Grande where identified. Ford’s sales catalog, August 1968 Buyer’s Digest and revised AMA sheets record different publication stages. A printed listing does not prove the equipment fitted to a particular car. Horsepower figures are Ford’s period published ratings.

Specifications and equipment

Each entry is corroborated in three of the following distinct Ford publication families: A, Mustang catalog; B, Buyer’s Digest; C, AMA specifications; and D, Performance Buyer’s Digest. These share Ford’s corporate origin. Revisions and duplicate scans count once. Page references below are PDF positions, including covers.

Why publication differences matter

Width and height differ between the sales literature and body-specific engineering figures. Approximate catalog weights and the AMA’s specified engine/transmission curb weights also use different bases. They are withheld from the common specification list.

The AMA compilation includes pages issued July 1 and October 1, 1968, with later revisions, including February 24, 1969. Its cover has an inconsistent handwritten revision year; dated individual sheets control the references here. A revision date is not a vehicle build-change date.

Boss 302, Boss 429, Shelby, Mustang E, racing cars, production totals, exact paint/trim codes and the complete engine/transmission matrix need separate research. Their specifications are not inferred from the regular-range listings above.

These catalog photographs help compare visible body and styling details. They do not establish engine, build date, paint code or original option fitment.
