1965 Ford Galaxie: U.S. factory specifications, equipment and archive photographs.

This reference covers U.S. production model-year offerings. Prototype, competition, Canadian and export vehicles remain separate. Published standard or optional equipment does not establish what was fitted to an individual photographed car.

Specifications and equipment

Every entry below is corroborated by three distinct visually inspected original Ford publication families. These share Ford corporate origin. PDF positions count covers; printed page labels are given in parentheses where identifiable. Horsepower is reproduced as a period advertised rating and is not converted to modern net horsepower.

Publication differences and research limits

The retail catalog is marked 8-64; the employee publication describes an early look at the range. These establish published offerings, not continuous availability throughout the model year. Dealer Facts PDF 11 has internal compression-ratio differences between its main and comparison tables (390 and 427), while dimensions differ from the retail back cover. Compression ratios and dimensions are therefore withheld here. The employee summary and retail catalog describe standard transmissions at different levels of detail; the exact XL/LTD and high-performance transmission matrix awaits further dated corroboration.

Production totals, VIN and paint codes, prices, exact changeover dates and additional numerical specifications remain pending three-family verification. Source qualifications and model restrictions must be retained when using these documents.

Archive photographs

Current archive records and image files were inspected against the model-year Ford catalog illustrations. Captions describe visible body forms; hidden engine, transmission and factory-fitted options are not inferred.
