Ford Knowledge Base / Galaxie / 1964
Explore the 1964 Ford Galaxie through original Ford publications, verified model and equipment entries, and archive photographs.
U.S. production reference. Full-size Galaxie evidence is kept separate from Fairlane, Canadian and export cars, prototypes and competition vehicles. Published availability does not prove equipment fitted to an individual photographed car. Every verified entry cites three distinct inspected original Ford publication families; all share Ford Motor Company as corporate source.

Edition and specification cautions
Nominal and maximum compression: the AMA general sheet, PDF 2, explicitly separates nominal from maximum compression for the 289, 352 and 390. These are different definitions, not interchangeable figures. Compression is withheld from this verified set until three families support the same definition and application.
Engine and transmission combinations: the retail catalog and AMA cover different levels of detail. The entry above records only the corroborated 195-hp 289 and general automatic-transmission availability. Detailed ratios, transmission eligibility, larger-engine ratings and high-performance packages remain pending three-family checks. No competition or police specification is applied to an ordinary production car.
Production totals, VIN and paint codes, prices, exact changeover dates, additional dimensions and fitted-equipment identifications remain pending. Period service claims have source-specific conditions and should not be used as present-day servicing instructions.
