1965 Ford Fairlane: U.S. factory specifications, equipment and archive photographs.

This reference covers U.S. production model-year offerings. Prototype, competition, Canadian and export vehicles remain separate. Published standard or optional equipment does not establish what was fitted to an individual photographed car.

Every entry below is corroborated by three distinct visually inspected original Ford publication families. These share Ford corporate origin. Publication differences and research limits

The retail catalog back cover gives 198.8 inches overall length; the dealer facts sheet gives 198.4 for its four-door six-cylinder sedan, while the revised AMA summary gives 199.0. Heights also differ. No single overall length or height is promoted as a reconciled specification. For the high-performance 289, the catalog and facts sheet give 10.5:1 compression, while AMA PDF 2 gives 10.9:1. This remains unresolved; no definitive compression ratio is supplied. The AMA labels the other engine ratios nominal. Four-speed and automatic availability descriptions differ in detail, so an unrestricted combination matrix is withheld.

Production totals, VIN and paint codes, prices, exact changeover dates and additional numerical specifications remain pending three-family verification. Source qualifications and model restrictions must be retained when using these documents.

Archive photographs

Current archive records and image files were inspected against the model-year Ford catalog illustrations. Captions describe visible body forms; hidden engine, transmission and factory-fitted options are not inferred.
