Edition differences and research limits

The AMA opening sheets were issued October 1, 1962; inspected engine sheets are revised January 2, 1963. The Galaxie retail catalog is revised December 1962. Its 390 compression figure is 10.8:1, while the AMA and service booklet list 10.5:1. That ratio is withheld. The Six horsepower figures also differ between retail and service publications. Later 289 and 427 listings and high-performance packages remain separate from the regular three-engine set above.

Production totals, VIN and paint codes, prices, additional dimensions, detailed option combinations and changeover dates remain pending three-family corroboration. Source-specific engine and transmission restrictions must be consulted before applying any listing to an individual car.
