Edition differences and research limits
The August 1962 Fairlane catalog describes the early engine and transmission range. The revised full-line brochure and Command Performance advertisement include later equipment. Four-speed availability, 289/high-performance ratings and exact introduction dates remain pending further dated corroboration. The initial catalog is not used as evidence for later four-speed equipment.
Production totals, VIN and paint codes, prices, additional dimensions, detailed option combinations and changeover dates remain pending three-family corroboration. Source-specific engine and transmission restrictions must be consulted before applying any listing to an individual car.
