U.S. production reference. This reference covers the full-size Galaxie range; Fairlane and station-wagon specifications are kept separate. Published availability does not establish equipment fitted to an individual photographed car. Canadian, export, prototype and competition evidence requires separate treatment. Every verified entry cites three distinct original Ford publication families, all sharing Ford Motor Company as corporate source.

Edition differences and research limits

Early and revised range: the corporate brochure describes the early regular engine range. The March 1962 retail catalog also includes Galaxie 500/XL and 406 high-performance equipment. The AMA scan contains handwritten XL additions. These additions are not assumed to describe the initial specification. XL trim, high-performance ratings and the exact engine/transmission matrix remain pending separate dated corroboration.

Production totals, VIN and paint codes, prices, dimensions, additional numerical engine specifications and exact changeover dates remain pending three-family corroboration. Period service claims are historical records; the source-specific initial-service exceptions and operating conditions must be consulted before interpreting them.
